A delegation from Arts Council Korea (ARKO) has arrived in Chile to explore new opportunities for collaboration and exchange with institutions and agents of the national cultural sector. During a four-day visit, the delegation kicked off its agenda with a meeting with Fundación Teatro a Mil, which culminated in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between both institutions.

The visit aims to foster a space for dialogue and the exploration of future cooperative initiatives between Chile and South Korea, considering both artist exchanges and networking among cultural organizations and institutions. Throughout their stay in the country, the ARKO delegation will hold meetings with various public and private stakeholders to identify opportunities and boost new collaborative ventures.

The meeting with Fundación Teatro a Mil advanced this working agenda and established a framework for future joint actions. Specifically, the MOU opens up new possibilities for exchange regarding programming, international circulation, and encounters among cultural professionals from both countries.

One of the first outcomes resulting from this agreement will take place at the upcoming edition of PLATEA: Programmers' Week, which will be held within the framework of the Teatro a Mil International Festival in 2027. This event will feature the participation of two cultural agents from South Korea, who will have the opportunity to experience the festival's programming, participate in its activities, and build connections with artists, programmers, institutions, and other professionals from the national and international cultural sector.

The presence of South Korean representatives at PLATEA will help deepen mutual understanding between the cultural ecosystems of both countries and explore new avenues of collaboration through direct interaction among their various stakeholders.

The activity was attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Chile, Kim Hak-jae, who assumed his duties in Chile in September 2023.

For Fundación Teatro a Mil, this collaboration is part of its ongoing work in internationalization and network-building, promoting spaces for encounter that expand opportunities for exchange and projection for artists and cultural professionals from Chile and Latin America.
